Located in the heart of Auckland's Britomart Precinct, Beach Hotel's self-assured elegance and perforated screens bring a unique aesthetic to the Beach Road facade.

Beach Hotel is a 15 level, 112 room boutique hotel building fronting Beach Road. The brief was to challenge the existing aesthetic of its context whilst maximizing the development potential and capitalizing on any view shafts. Its singular street aspect with Anzac Ave elevated on the ridge behind, required dexterous approach to planning and design. The floor plate is relatively small compared to its neighbours, with 8 rooms per floor. The ground floor programme allows for the amenity required for a hotel as well as access.

The east and west facades are articulated by a series of folded screens/frames stacked and angled at each floor/room, referencing the stacked metal containers at the nearby port and providing solar protection and privacy to the hotel rooms; this dynamic approach to its facade activates its street frontage and provides a strong visual interest.
